The Mets are the third organization in the last three seasons that has watched Arroyo spend nearly all of his time at Triple-A.

Arroyo’s recent seasons trace a familiar pattern: solid Triple-A production interrupted by health problems. In 2024, with the Milwaukee Brewers’ Triple-A affiliate, the Nashville Sounds, he played just 30 games and slashed .237/.305/.360, losing nearly two months of the first half to injury.

The 2025 season was a better demonstration of his ability. He missed 20 days in April and all of July with separate ailments, but when healthy he hit .314/.384/.485 with five home runs and 37 RBIs in 45 games for the Philadelphia Phillies’ Triple-A affiliate, the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

His .279 average with Syracuse this season sits below that 2025 peak, but the 2026 line remains respectable for a veteran infielder in the International League.

For the Mets, this is a low-stakes transaction: Arroyo was on a minor league contract and did not occupy a 40-man roster spot. New York’s infield picture is crowded in 2026, and the 31-year-old was unlikely to factor into the club’s plans for the final stretch of the season.

For Arroyo, the immediate priority is finding another organization willing to offer a minor league deal before the 2026 minor league season is complete.
