As the 2026 Major League Baseball season nears its halfway mark, MLB.com’s panel of experts has released their latest predictions for the prestigious All-MLB First and Second Teams. These mid-season assessments offer a snapshot of the league’s top performers to date and anticipate who will be recognized as the best at the end of the year.

The voting process considers current season statistics along with projections for the remainder of the season. Each team will feature selections at catcher, first base, second base, shortstop, third base, and designated hitter, along with three outfielders and five starting pitchers and two relief pitchers.

Key developments, such as Aaron Judge’s extended absence due to injury and Tarik Skubal’s recent elbow surgery, are acknowledged as factors that could influence end-of-season honors.

Catcher Spotlight

Dillon Dingler of the Detroit Tigers has earned a spot on the First Team. Already a winner of the 2025 Gold Glove Award, Dingler has surpassed his previous season’s home run total with 16 in 2026, while maintaining elite defensive capabilities. His 134 wRC+ ranks third among qualified catchers. Shea Langeliers of the Oakland Athletics is tabbed for the Second Team, boasting a .879 OPS with 18 home runs, following a strong second half performance in 2025.

First Base Power Surge

The first base position is highlighted by the emergence of young stars. Ben Rice of the New York Yankees leads the First Team, with a 172 wRC+ and a .998 OPS, alongside 19 home runs, stepping up significantly during Judge’s absence. Nick Kurtz of the Athletics is named to the Second Team, showing a .293/.443/.563 slash line and leading the majors in on-base percentage (.443).

Midfield Maestros

Brice Turang of the Milwaukee Brewers is recognized on the Second Base First Team, contributing a .835 OPS and strong defensive play. He is a key player for the leading Brewers. JJ Wetherholt of the St. Louis Cardinals earns Second Team honors, with a .751 OPS and 10 home runs, and leads all second basemen in Fielding Run Value.

Bobby Witt Jr. of the Kansas City Royals is a First Team selection, leading MLB with 4.0 fWAR, supported by his bat and exceptional defense. He boasts a .284 average and an .807 OPS. CJ Abrams of the Washington Nationals is named to the Second Team, with a 147 wRC+ and 53 RBIs, leading all shortstops.

Outfield Excellence

The outfield features Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks on the First Team, having a career-best season with a .907 OPS and an MLB-leading eight triples. Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Chicago Cubs is also on the First Team, showing a recent surge in performance with a .453 batting average and seven home runs since late May, including a recent cycle. James Wood of the Washington Nationals rounds out the First Team outfield, impressing with a .975 OPS and 20 home runs.

The Second Team outfield includes a formidable trio: Byron Buxton of the Minnesota Twins, Juan Soto of the New York Mets, and Jordan Walker of the St. Louis Cardinals, all recognized for their significant offensive contributions in 2026.
