Craytor Selected by White Sox
Pitcher Luke Craytor was selected 255th overall in the ninth round by the Chicago White Sox. The 6-foot-5, 220-pound right-hander spent his first two collegiate seasons at Lafayette before transferring to Virginia Tech for his final two years.
During the 2026 season, Craytor appeared in 21 games, posting a 4-0 record with a 3.16 earned run average. He recorded 30 strikeouts in 25.2 innings pitched, allowing 22 hits and 13 walks. His selection by the White Sox adds another arm to their organizational depth.
Stieg Joins Pirates Organization
Griffin Stieg, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound pitcher from McLean, Virginia, was chosen 378th overall in the 13th round by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Stieg spent his entire four-year collegiate career at Virginia Tech.
He concluded his time with the Hokies with a 6-7 record and a 6.32 ERA. In 136.2 innings pitched, Stieg accumulated 124 strikeouts. His selection by the Pirates indicates the club’s belief in his potential to develop further within their system.
Clement Drafted by Royals
The third Virginia Tech pitcher selected on Sunday was Madden Clement, who was taken 449th overall in the 15th round by the Kansas City Royals. Clement, standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 210 pounds, is a native of Butler, Pennsylvania.
Clement spent three seasons with the Hokies, finishing his collegiate career with a 2-1 record, a 4.74 ERA, and 41 strikeouts in 38 innings pitched over 21 appearances, including 11 starts. The Royals’ selection of Clement adds another collegiate arm to their draft class.
